Indeed, a nice surprise. I still fire up SEV from time to time, complete with my own mod (combination of balance and a couple of other UI mods).

The thing I like most about large or extra large maps: Cut and paste a part of it in a new map when I want to play only a specific part of a battle with a smaller force. ;)

I'm working on a couple of maps, mostly designing smaller parts to be used and re-used. Although I might borrow that 2-scenario idea instead of setting up a classical scenario. ;)

Back after a long break

After being frustrated with SEV due to graphic glitches, I decided to give it (yet) another try yesterday. Latest patch, a year of driver update, and... it works! Lots of rejoicing and had to phone...

Seconded. The Blitz is a very good site for finding PBEM opponents. You also have the option to set your 'availability' and number of concurrent games, so others know what to expect in terms of turns...

You can also just select the unit again after rallying and the movement radius will be displayed. I think the 'u' key does the same, since it redraws all highlighted hexes.

In any rate, this event need improvement. Maybe even a warning message earlier than just the turn before, giving players time to properly equip a hero for the event.

Press 'N' to advance to the next turn, 'F' to double the display speed.

Additional hotkeys are 'SPACE' for pause, 'W' for wireframe and 'G' for grid display.

Or maybe finally a fix for the ATI troubles?

(15fps on a HD2900XT, apparently it is a problem with SDL and ATI. Unlikely to be fixed as it is probably driver-side, but one can hope.)

Well, thankfully there are exception, such as Stardocks Galactiv Civilisations. By not including multiplayer, they could focus on building the (IMO) best AI yet.
