Death has Banes (budget thug), Bane Lords (better than bane thug), Shade Mages (mind hunt protector/semi thug), Demilichs (dont underestimate immortal), Wraith Lords (really good in goon game mods),...

I heard that holy can only be boosted by 1 via communions, but then, Banishment with Holey 3 is actually already quite heavy.

If I remember correctly (This is a "I think" not an "I Know"), Holy levels act different from other magic levels as far as communion boosting goes.

Observations:
-Red and Green have to share provinces of their cap cycle, I think in reds case it can be avoided
-Teal with have issues supporting each other with 3 movement inhibiting provinces...

I would be fairly confident about winning though, I can throw 1 CTing Rain of Stone Caster, 1 Big Fire Evo and 1 Big Frost evo at any major mage concentration per turn, which should kinda minimizes...

I have some kind of inbuilt thing against using recruitable human thugs somehow. Propably a blowback from a lot of failed attempts at thugging with Ulmish Black lords :)

Iron fears not has AoE one, and priests that are using them do not spam iron Blizzard, I am not sure that spamming indie priest to get it is very viable either.
And only 20% of Ulms mages can cast...

Well, I think most would agree that Shinuyama and CBM MA Ulm are both very strong nations, and in such a situation in may be worthwhile to look at the direct matchup, as their respective "strongness"...

Shinuyama has very good troops, and more importantly very varied troops.
Ulm has excellent heavy infantry, Shinuyama can pick and choose between very good heavy infantry, size 1 infantry with human...

Man is in competition for having some of the worst mages of the game, one should however not underestimate having excellent spies.
