Here's my suggestion... make this part of "racialabilities.txt", it would need a tag like follows:
Number of Extra Techs := 4
Extra Tech Name 1 := Physics
Extra Tech Level 1 ...

Actually you can make "Anti-Missile ECM's"...
Make a new PD weapon that only works at range 1, has no "firing animation" and an "electronic scrambling" sound, make it smaller than normal PD BUT...

2 movement per engine is overkill... they'll be zooming allong at a max speed of 19! (12 engine +3 for quantum + 3 for solar + 1 for prop. expert.)... I suggest just increasing the bonus speed by 1...

Think about it... you get to research a variety of weapons in just one catagory... both missiles and direct fire! Plasma bolts do suck, but Enveloping Acid Globules are one of...
