Most of our play test groups both drew experienced players, but also brought in new people to the hobby. The trick is to choose people with good personalities, not just people who play RPG. The demographic of gamers is above average intelligence, interested in history, science, and politics, often people who read a lot. You can find this sort of person in a lot places.
