Default Quadrant Types

Outside of the shape, is there a difference in the types of features found in the quadrant types for a new game? IE do certain quadrants contain more or higher quality planets?
thanks

More or less, yes. For instance, IIRC Ancient types have more dead stars and asteroid belts than normal.

I don't know all the details, but a search should turn up a few good threads.

If you want a great variety of quadrant types see Fyron's Quadrant Mod (have a look in most busy topics - there's a link in Fyron's sig...)

Default Re: Quadrant Types

Mid-Life, Edge, Cluster, Grid, and Spiral quadrants are identical except for shape. Ancient has more nebulae and black holes and such. Several mods add more variety. Proportions, AIC, Krsqk Quadrant Mod, QuadMod (IIRC) and of course the already mentioned FQM. Krsqk Quadrant Mod and FQM just add new quadrants, systems, etc, without changing the stock techs and components and such. Devnull Mod incorporates a much older Version of FQM (1.12 IIRC, and FQM is now up to 1.21 for the "standard" Version). AIC is having the latest FQM Version built in to it, while keeping the custom quadrants it already has. The Atrocities Star Trek Mod (AST) and the Star Trek Mod both incorporate FQM Deluxe. There are probably others I have forgotten to mention.
