				New Idea for S.E.4?

What about implementing 'Flux Fields' (you would use them the same as warp points) that would randomly generate in a system for a specific or random amount of turns, then dissapear again (the destination mayby could show up in a different colour on the galaxy map). Ships using it would incur a penalty in damage but it would allow a type of shortcut to other systems, say, 4 warp points away. You would have to take the chance using it to attack, as there may be a possibility that the 'Flux field may not be there when you want to return home (useful for kamikaze attacks). What do you think guys.

Even better, imho a supre warp point that takes up maney sectors and has infinate range.

I think they have something in the events, 1 is unstable wormholes and the other is a space anomoly that flings yours ships/bases to another sector.

		...or a One-Way, One-Time Warp-to-anywhere item....might end up in a black hole or something....

Is there a way to increase the "spacial anomoly" thing or the unstable warp points? I really like those events. IMO they ad a nice addition to the game. I REALLY like it when I'm in a restricted area (only 3-4 systems connected with no external WP's) and one of my colony ships gets flung across the galaxy. Then I can expand quickly without any stellar manip. I kinda' wish I could let each area develop independently as in a seperate culture / technologies / etc. Something like a popular SciFi plot with the same initial "set of DNA" evolving differently in different corners of the galaxy. Probably too hard to code at this point - maybe SE5.

Reguardless, the Spacial Anomoly thing is cool - except for the time it zapped an important Battle Station of mine into a black hole system. I couldn't do anything with it - didn't have a SY to emergency build something - except watch it slip into the hole 3 turns later.....

Does anyone know if that is modifyable? - the frequency of specific events. Other than the game setup I mean....

I just looked through the events file; it doesn't appear that there's a way to increase the probability of specific events; it doesn't even appear that you can change the probability of specific event levels (e.g., reduce the probability of catastrophic events).

BTW - anyone else noticed that they don't use all the event types listed at the beginning of the event file? They've listed things like "Planet Created", "Star Created", "Research - Project Deleted", "Intel - Project Deleted", "Plague Cured", and a couple others, but there isn't a corresponding entry to let them happen randomly. Is it just that some events can't happen randomly, but they left the event types in for those occasions when a player deliberately does one of those things?

yeah, that's so when the player does it, the game can file that in the log under 'events', I believe.
