AI empires without names?!
Hi all!
I recently found some great race style artwork when browsing the net, the Universal Shipyards especially had many 'must have' -masterpieces.
So, in order to be able to use these cool new shipsets I copied all the files in separate directories under the \pictures\race\ -folder and named all the new folders properly using the prefix from the .bmp filenames.
Everything works great when I build my own empire using these race styles but the computer automatically appears to use these new styles also when 'randomly generate computer opponents' is chosen.
This is of course good thing but for some reason these AI empires don't have a name at all! I came up with a conclusion that the folder name must not have been enough for the computer to determine the proper name for an empire and so I copied the default AI strategy files from the AI directory to these new race directories as well.
I also renamed these files the same way as the AI files for races which are included with the SE4 CD are named. Because that didn't help I also manually edited the 'racename_AI_general.txt' (or something like that) file in every new race style folder that the right name for the empire could be found there. No, it didn't help.
Nothing seems to help. The computer still isn't able to name these AI empires. It would be enough for me if these empires had even random names but no. They are empires without names. I think this is most irritating.
Has any one of you had the same problem? What should I do to get this working right? I definitely want all these new graphics to be selectable when creating a new empire, and copying the .bmp files to the folders as I did seems to be the only way to be successful with this. I would deeply appreciate any help.
Regards, jaolhe
