Do national heroes depend on luck scale?
When I played with +1 luck scale, I would get all the national heroes. But I don't get them much any more now that my luck scale is -2. Is there a correlation? Thanks.

At least in Dominions I, yes -- you needed at least a 0 luck to get them, if memory serves. It quite possibly hasn't changed.
It'll probably also affect how soon you might get them. There's nothing quite like having Bart the Patriarch show up at the beginning of your second turn.

Who is Bart?
I really appreciate all the guidance, guys. It seems like the afficianados of this game are all extremely intelligent & genuinely nice people. Too bad that the MP set-up is not so ideal...

Bartholemew the Patriarch.
A badass hero of Pithium. Has 5 Holy, Sacred and decent other stats (3 Water, 3 Astral, 3 Air I believe).

The MP works as well as any MP for a game this in-depth and detailed as this game can work. It's just not something you can really play that fast.

That's awesome.
But what if I decide to go with hydra/hydra hatchling army?

I'm not sure that this is entirely true - although it was said by a lot of people. Either way I think Kristoffer or Johan said on one of the threads that in Dom II there is a base chance per turn of getting a hero, which increases or decreases with the luck scale, such that misfortune 3 = 0% chance of heroes. This effect is cumulative, so if you don't get a hero on a turn, your chance next turn will be higher, until you get a hero, in which case it'll start over again.
I *think* the figure was 3% base chance /turn of getting a hero - thus 6% with luck 3 and 0% with misfortune 3 /turn. Thus with neutral luck by turn 10 you would have a 30% chance of getting a hero, whereas misfortune 2 would reduce your chance to 10% by turn 10.
