Game settings
Are the game settings fixed for each map or can they be changed? If so, how? I can find no prompt in setting up a Pretender or a new game, and the manual doesn't mention them.

Im not sure what you mean. Or actually I think the answer would be some yes and some no. Do you have a specific?
Some settings for how strong magic, independents, sites, random events, stuff like that can be set when you start a game. Some can be set when you create your pretender but only affect your nation. Some are set in the map itself but the info is in a text file which is easy to edit.

Re: Game settings
Thanks for the quick reply and sorry I'm returning so late I had to *gasp* actual do some work. Anyway, what I meant was the number of magic sights, the strength of independents, etc.

After you choose your map it will list those. you can left-click / right-click on the entries to raise / lower the values.

Yeah it should be in there in the "create a new game" somewhere. I think its just after you choose the map. Some of the maps might have preset those and not let you change it so you might want to try another map. Click on the numbers of the settings you want to change.
