Desert Sun doesn\'t work?
I seem to recall someone posting about this before, but a search didn't turn anything up... I picked Desert Sun but the provinces adjacent to my dominion aren't getting hot... am I misreading the description of Desert Sun, or is this a bug in the game? (Or maybe everyone adjacent to me has Cold in their scales to balance it out... but independents don't HAVE scales, do they?)

Re: Desert Sun doesn\'t work?
I may be totally wrong here, but I believe that Desert Sun and Heart of Winter can be countered by enemy dominion (perhaps in a province just beyond the indie you're looking at) - but I also think it's the case that temperature etc. fluctuates a bit over the course of the game, even for a Desert Sun player.
But what do I know? I only have the demo.

Re: Desert Sun doesn\'t work?
It seeps out of your Domain and changes your Domain faster to the Desired temperature.
It isn't very effective without a strong dominion. Independants have scales (provincial bases, or temperature bases by seasons).
Try letting your dominion get fairly high into the domain. (Another reason might be you are fighting against a Cold Domain)

Re: Desert Sun doesn\'t work?
Well, my dominion strength is something like 8, so I doubt that's the problem... Maybe the heat is spreading faster through my dominion; I didn't pick any scales other than heat that I could compare to. So I guess everyone adjacent to me (including the independents!) has cold dominions...

I think its important which kind of heat you have, so a heat 3 will spread faster using a desert theme than a heat 1 dominion.

I think that might be a given, considering you need at least heat/cold-2 to take Desert Sun/Heart of Winter.
Even without DS/HW, however, a stronger scale will begin to show effects faster than a weaker scale, since the odds of a scale tipping are affected by how different the current scale is from your purchased scale. It won't, however, make it reach heat-3 that much faster, merely tip it towards heat sooner. So you'll see more heat-2s and 1s, instead of non-heat or even cold with heat-3. That may give the impression that your heat is spreading faster.
