Marty Ward/Sun Devil - Race Files
Marty,
In answer to your question in the Mods Archive regarding the compatability of my Races mod and SunDevil's, all I can say is that my mod was based on SunDevil's previous Version.
SunDevil, can you itemise the changes you made to your earlier Race mod? How extensive was it? Were all races modified, or just some? What were the particular files that you put more work into?
As you may have seen, I have just done an extensive mod on all of the Research files
to fix a number of problems.

What I should have asked is should I install them in a certain order to get them most out of each mod? I didn't know if a mod changes every file or just certain ones.

Well, in any case, they should be installed before the Mod Pack done by Mephisto, Tampa and me. If you install them after, they will overwrite the Sergetti (and Xi'Chung in the new Version) settings done in our mod.

Thanks for the tips. I may try loading them in orders. I'll let you know if I have any problems.
Right now I have them loaded Mod pac and then race mod and I'm in the best game I've ever had!

Hmmm, depends on whether SunDevil started with Mephistos mod pack.
My mod was intended to replace SunDevils AI Research files....
Just noticed that the mod-pack only includes research files for the Sergetti and Darlock, so my mod is unaffected by whether you load mod pack first or second....

In my mod all that I changed where the three files for each race that is included in the mod.
Ai_Anger
Ai_Politics
Ai_Settings
My mod doesn't have any affect on research, so based on someone else's updated research files, yes you can use both mods. Now if God Emperor included files other than the research file of each race, then two things can happen. He can post an updated Version with just the default races research file or you can install his mod first, then mine.
My mod also doesn't touch any of the newly created races either by the amazing group who made the modpack. Hope this helps, and let me know what you think of the mod.

It almost seems that the mods can be used in a building block fashion. I could take the race style from Sun Devil, the research style from God, the build style from Tampa,the rest from wherever and create a completely new race.
Is it possible to create a race that way?
How do you create that .emp file that seems to be necessary to allow you to choose the race at the beginning of the game?

I suggest that you also include my earlier ship design mod which boosts the amount of point defence and armour that the AI includes on its ships - this mod includes new AI_DesignCreation files.....
