Default Small Question: Strange House in the Mists

I just found this very promising looking site, which says I can "enter to summon void monsters".

Does anyone know if
- this functions like an overwater Ryleh Void Gate? (That is: There is a *chance* that I will get a monster? That there is a chance I will go insane? That there is a chance I will be attacked? That my success rate will depend on my summoning skill?
- an astral mage must use it?
- the monsters you get are like those from Ryleh?

Anything I should know about this?
I found it using that cheap Astral Probing spell, and it is in a prov in a kind of out-of-the-way place, so I would sort of like to know in advance whom to send there and/or what gear he or she may need (Ritual of Returning? Astral Mage? Armor, Bodyguards? Etc..)

THamks much!

It's the same as the R'lyeh Void Gate. Unless you are R'lyeh, I wouldn't advise trying to use it, as your mage has a 25% chance going crazy for a relatively low chance of getting anything good.

Thanks, mind if I follow up?

- Are you saying it is the same, but overwater? THen I would get different monsters, wouldnt I?

- Do I need an astral mage to summon, or can any cheapo jerk do?

- If I already have GoH up (and I do in this game), would you still recommend bagging it? I mean if I get aquatic stationaries who will die on land anyhow, blech. But if I get Vastnesses... whoo hoo!

Yes, it's the same. No, you don't get different monsters.

You need an astral mage to summon.

It's not worth it: The Void Gate is dubious even for R'lyeh, and you have none of R'lyeh's advantages here. With a very high chance of going insane or being eaten, your mage will spend most of his time in the funny farm.

It provides the same monsters, except that you shouldn't get anything that's underwater only, nor should you be attacked by them. And yes, unless for some reason you have a priestly Starspawn, it's going to be rough to use.

If you must try it, have the commander first have Ritual of Returning active, script Returning (with the necessary astral pearls provided), and don't use anybody you don't mind being feebleminded until GoH takes care of that.

Two of the Tien Chi heros and lucky random Pans might, but that's all I can think of at the moment.

Just get a bunch of regular astral types and switch them out as they fry, if you are determined to try it with max output.

If you want to use that site and are not R'lyeh you'd better 'wish' for 'Stargazer' if you can. Or sending your own mages to the Asylum will eventually cost you more than 100 astral gems.
