Greetings from a future newbie
Hey all,
Been watching these forums and playing the Dom2 demo and have since ordered it.
I have not seen a game in years with such depth and strategical complexity ever. Even one of my all time Favorites, Masters of Magic, doesn't hold a candle to this.
Anyway, just introducing myself and hope to enjoy some of the PBEM games that get hosted (which I used to PBM quite extensively so this gets me close to that as well).

Re: Greetings from a future newbie
I was in a major habit of buying a new game every month. The only ones that stayed on my harddrive thru multiple machine upgrades were Master of Magic and Stars!. Now Dominions 2 and Space Empire IV (also sold here) have replaced those in my heart (sorry old timers)

Re: Greetings from a future newbie
Yea, Masters of Magic is what got me here. Me and a couple of buds were at a party and someone brought up the glory days of Masters of Magic. I had actually downloaded the Dom2 demo a couple of months ago but without a manual it was rather daunting and I was busy with some other games.
However, when Masters of Magic was brought up I thought about Dom2 sitting on my hard drive and its possbibilities.
A bit of research later and a couple more games under my belt and I was ordering it.
Can't wait. I was devestated playing demos of Jotunheim and Pythium only to find out the demo had a limited number of turns!

Re: Greetings from a future newbie
that's the bad thing of the demo only 40 turns.
but the dominions 1 demo is fortunately without turnlimits . so until i got my copy i played the dom1 demo
do you know age of wonders 2 shadow magic too krool ? it's very nice too . though not so deep like dominons

Re: Greetings from a future newbie
I have the original Age of Wonders which was a bLast and I looked closely at Shadow Magic. At the time though I was heavily engaged in FPS games such as Planetside, America's Army, etc. I was also playing the Total War series.
Dom2 really has me excited though. To think I almost put it down. I tell ya, when I first downloaded the demo I must've stared at the screen for I don't know how long trying to figure out how to research!
I am interested in the PBEM aspect of this game too, although I don't know how many people actually engage in the PBEM feature. Hopefully enough that I can get into a couple of large games.

Re: Greetings from a future newbie
Not many people play PBEM but there are very common "long term" type games in the 1 turn a day Category. It's just that the game has a built in server which works much better than playing by email, so no one does.

Re: Greetings from a future newbie
Yea, I guess thats what I meant when saying PBEM. Good, this is great news. Long term games sound great which I'm sure are shorter than PBM games (considering some PBM games I've been in Lasted 2 1/2 years).
