AI fleets
How can I make the AI concentrate their ships in large fleets?
For some reason, I only get attacked by fleets of less than 20 ships, and one by one.
I have a system in which my 15 ship fleet have destroyed more than 200 ships because the AI insists in sending its ships in small fleets.
I those 200 ships have warped in at once, I would have been in trouble.
Question: I'm not using mines, if I use mines, do you think the AI will concentrate its ships?
Maybe the AI would concentrate the ships and wait to get some minesweepers if I use mines.

Re: AI fleets
I believe settings in the AI_Fleets file control what percentage of ships are in fleets. Check out one of the TDM AI files as most of those races do use very large fleets.

Re: AI fleets
Is it there a way to enter the percentage of ships per fleet?
I saw the percentage in fleets, but appearanly the AI just make a bunch of small fleets.
Wait a second. How about telling the AI how many fleets it can have? Do I have that choice in the AI general files?
I'll check when I get home.

Re: AI fleets
Check _AI_Fleets.txt file for fleet settings. In particular, you need to adjust entry Fleets Div X Num Fleets := YY.
Tangential question: I'm still don't understand completely the concept of "Divisions" in this file. Is there any kind person to explain this?
Edit: my question is canceled. I've grasped the meaning of "div" stuff. So trivial

Re: AI fleets
You want big Ai fleets, then try tdm, my Last game the AI, Telassate were hitting me with 100+ ships per fleet and they almost all were baseships. Also I have fought in TDM< AI fleets of upwards and over 200 ships per fleet along with over 1000 fighters as well.... so ask and thou shall receive.... just be careful of what you ask for... LOL

Re: AI fleets
In my experience the number of fleets specified in the AI fleet.txt file should be rather low: 10 at maximum but usually 2-5 will be best.
My record was an AI attack with two fleets in a single turn on the same sector. Each fleet had over 500 ships! However the fleets attacked one after the other while a human player would of course make the attack simultaneously. The AI won the combat but had serious losses in the first fleet.

Re: AI fleets
Appearenly the thing is to tell the AI to use only 3 fleets, with 80% ships in the fleets, and to attack only every 10 turns, so the AI can pool its ships.
I got it right, right?
