Sounds not working since sound mod update
I just noticed my sounds are working since I installed the sound mod...
I put the sounds in the sound directory and put the new component file in the data directory....
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Ken

Re: Sounds not working since sound mod update
hmmm..big question here java is did you install modpack 1.5. if so, then you need to put that components.txt file in the data folder in the modpack folder. if not, then in the "default" data folder. also the new sound files go the same...into the sound folder in modpack folder IF modpack installed, if not then into the "default" sound folder..
hope this helps and doesn't confuse you..

Re: Sounds not working since sound mod update
Take a look in your sounds directory.
One time, I accidentally installed the sounds mod pack so all the sounds were in a folder called sounds *inside* the se4\sounds directory. Once I moved them up a level, that fixed my problem. I, uh, won't tell you how long/short ago that was.
Do you see a file called se4\sounds\endturn.wav? This sound doesn't appear in components.txt. If you aren't hearing the end turn sound, then my best guess is that the location of the sounds is your main problem. They should be in se4\sounds with no subdirectories in that folder.
Hope this helps.
Add->With reference to PathFinder's comments about the ModPack: I have the ModPack installed but it is definitely getting my sounds still from the se4\sounds directory. And they work. Some of TampaGamer's sounds send shivers up my spine. They are *that* much better than the ones that shipped with the game. Okay. Sorry. Maybe too much praise for them.

Re: Sounds not working since sound mod update
Ok, this is strange... The sounds are all in the correct folders. There are no mod packs installed. The component file is in the correct folder....
The end turn file is there but no sounds. I can hear them if I play them manually.
I've tested it a few times no to no avail. It worked the first game I played before I installed the sound mod. the first game was just a random quick start game.
Since then the Last 2 games have been ones I created. No sound. I tried another quick start to see if that might be doing something... Nope, still no sounds...
I guess, I'll reinstall?
The only thing I can think of is if somehow the path is screwed up. Is the path to the sounds listed somewhere in a file so I can make sure it's right?
Thanks,
Ken

Re: Sounds not working since sound mod update
javaslinger- are talking about the sound mod posted by me? If so, I posted a new components.txt file to use with Version 1.27b instead of Version 1.19.

Re: Sounds not working since sound mod update
Please forgive these simple questions. I'm just trying to help you test the simple stuff first.
Do you hear the CD music? Can you hear the sound it makes when you press End Turn? Can you hear any sounds from your weapons firing?
If you double click on a sound in your Sounds directory, can you hear it play?
Thanks.

Re: Sounds not working since sound mod update
I can hear the CD music.
I can hear the sounds if I double click them in the sound directory.
No I cannot hear the sounds of my ships firing.
Before you ask, yes, I have sounds on in the options...
No, I hear nothing when I click end turn.
Thanks,
hope that helps...
By they way, since I got this game I've been up till 6am and on for 3 nights in a row now.. ugh...

Re: Sounds not working since sound mod update
I used the components file that was zipped with the 1.10 zip. Is that for the 1.19 or 1.27? I noticed anothere components file seperate from the 1.10 zip. Is that the one I need?

Re: Sounds not working since sound mod update
The 1.10 post is the one to use for 1.27b. I included the separate components.txt in case someone already had the sounds from before and didn't want to download the whole thing again. Are using a mod folder? If not, the sounds should be dropped straight into the \se4\sounds folder and the components.txt file should be placed in the \se4\data folder. Note that some sounds are not used yet by the game, but (hopefully) will be implemented in future patches. These include the sounds of seeker launching (capital ship missile, seeking parasite, ground cannon, etc.).
