bug: sieging scouts hide from indie liberators?

I have some commanders with stealth sieging an enemy castle. I got the following Messages:

<enemy flag> An unexpected event has occurred in Lesser Armenia.

I click on it and it says "A group of knights has unexpectedly attacked our province in an attempt to take control.".

But there is no battle, and no change, as far as I can tell about ownership of the province or armies stationed therein.
