Found a bug
When either in the simulator or in actual battle if I have too many weapons selected the game freezes on me. For example I made the death star in this game. It is a moveable base of 3. It has twenty shield depletors and twenty meson bLasters. Well half way through the firing process the game freezes and when I crtl-alt-del it, it says not responding. I know this is forty weapons firing in a row, but isn't this game suppose to handle this? This also happens in battle but I only usually set off nine weapons off in a row and it still freezes after the fourth shot. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Re: Found a bug
At what point does the game crash, and what is happening at that Last moment?
I once had the game freeze up pretty consistently, but once I rebooted and freed up gobs of memory by closing background windows, it worked fine.

Re: Found a bug
It is in the process of firing the weapons. The first two shots work fine but around the fourth or fifth shot the game just freezes. And I've rebooted and ran the same simulation and keeps on freezing. I find it sad that the game/simulator can't handle a ship firing 8 and beyond number of shots.

Not to add more fuel to your fire but.....I am currently finishing a Star Wars AI that has the Emp2 having ppb's, about 10 on a dreadnoght and 2 wormhole guns, they all fire just fine.(been on recieving end more than once .)
And why would this not freeze up on a stack of 40 satellites or 100 fighters? thats more than 8 weapons.

Re: Found a bug
I imagine it's something besides the number of weapons, but I don't know. Is this using modified data files? Try sending the saved game files and a description of how to reproduce the problem to malfador@malfador.com.

It should be quite obvious that the game can handle tons of shots going off, but you have a special case/situation or problem.
Try backing up your mod & savegame, and reinstalling SE4, you may have simply got something corrupted.

Re: Found a bug
Before reinstalling your game, try closing down any other applications you have running in the background. Do you run anything else? Virus checkers, firewalls etc?
