Thanks for the reply Andy.
Yesterday I played Germany v Romania in 2007 and I was Germany with 1500 pts. (a Leo6 and Mech Inf squad and some Jaegers. Romania picked no vehicles)
I played Israel v Egypt 2006. I don't remember the points but I had 9 merkava 4s and Egypt picked 3 M1's and the rest infantry. I was hoping for a just tank v tank in open plains. Instead I got shoot the infantry at 500m. I've had the same issue when playing the Syrians.
Those are a couple. I realise that the VC, mujahideen, etc won't give me a tank battle but I figure European and Mid East armies would show up to play.
Not sure how the picklists work. Are they editable?

this link from only a couple of days ago should do. But remember that pick lists are very, very advanced hacking, and there will be absolutely no help given apart from the above.
1) you played in 2007 with 1500 points. In 2007, that is almost no points whatsoever. Chump change. 21st century MBT will cost 400-500 points
each. So the AI will go for cheap troops to round out its force as it will not have enough points to consider even a platoon of MBT most likely.
2) "Egypt picked 3 M1's and the rest infantry". Well - again, the 3 MBT have eaten almost
all the AI's points (about 1200 of 1500) . So it will round out with the cheap stuff, ie what it can actually buy with those 300 or so points it has left. The AI wants a balanced force if it can - so it needs
some infantry, mortars and AAA.
If you want the AI to have armoured forces, then you will need to have an adequate amount of points available for it to do it on, for the era you are playing in. 1500 points is a small amount of troops in 1940 when Shermans cost 70 points a pop, and merely the cost of a
leg rifle coy in 2000+ when Challengers go for 500 points each. Try using about 20,000 or 30,000 points plus to see company-sized tank buys by the AI in the 2000s AD.
Cheers
