				 Elf bane - bug?
Seems like the elf bane is bugged. Near as I can tell (looking at the debug log to figure out how the hell my assassin failed to even scratch a marble oracle), magic creatures take a MR roll to avoid death - but if they pass it they take no damage at all - and this is considerable considering the elf bane deals 12 + str AP damage. Kinda hard to read the debug logs, but most definitely about 10 swings which should have been dealing 27 AP damage with an attack 8 over the defense I needed to hit the shield (protection was 35 on a shield hit - should have easily cleaved the shield) and not a point of damage. :/

What I see in the debug log is that your Elf Bane was constantly repelled by Oracle's Fire Brand so there's nothing unusual that Elf Bane didn't work. Did I misunderstand anything? |

Just checked one of those rehosted turns - Oracle repelled each and every attack from your troops so probably there's no bug here. |

				 Re: Elf bane - bug?
Yes, you repelled, but I had an 18 Morale and I'd have to fail a Morale check to not attack through the repel. Again, I'm not entirely clear on the debug log, but it seems extremely unlikely that 10+ times I failed the morale check caused by the repel (if that is the case, this seems like a bug of a different sort). What it looked like to me was that I hit but you resisted it:

				 Re: Elf bane - bug?
I think the Elf Bane is not a good weapon. Do not use debug or other tools. Just trial and error and I am never impressed with its results.
A weapon i never, ever use. Sounds good in the descr, but there are many better weapons out there at the same level that work better in my testing.

				 Re: Elf bane - bug?
Repel-calculation starts from the difference in length, and I don't think it got to attack-negating phase in the two parts you posted. In other words, repel happened but wasn't SUCCESSFUL.

I don't know what's up with Elf Bane.

I'll add this to the bug list later today or this weekend. |

I equip my commanders with elfbane when they are facing Earth Attack assasinations. Gives them a chance. |
