For those of you who have never heard of this game, it is perhaps one of *the* best boardgames ever designed. Combat was pretty darn fun, but the game's strongest aspect was the politics, both the treaty system and the diplomatic maneuvering.
The game itself has gone through several changes. From its inception in the early 1980s, to a major official rewrite in the mid 1980s by the now defunct Avalon Hill. An unoffical set of house rules has been compiled, affectionatly known as Empires in Harm.
This classic masterpiece is now being published as a computer game by Matrixgames.
Computer Empires in Arms
To any SEIV player who thrives on the geo(?)space politics aspect of running an empire, I can almost guarantee you'll love EiA.
Of course, if EiA has the same ability to mod as SEIV, so much the better. Of course, they would need some suggestions from the modders and those who love playing modded games to know that. And maybe SEIV will get some cross traffic in the exchange.
Shrapnel and Matrix are leading the way to restore quality gaming. Its up to us fans and consumers to help spread the word.
