Default Production at recently colonized planets

Hello,

I just bought SE4 and I have a question about it.

After I colonize a planet and assign it to build a facility it says that it will NEVER be done.

How do you build stuff at the new colonies?

The problem is that there probably isn't any population at the colony. The colonize order automatically loads colonists from the location it's given, moves, then performs the colonize action, but moving and then colonizing will not work unless you loaded some colonists beforehand.

Always use the Colonize button (or the planets screen - upper row to left) to send a colony ship until you get the hang of the game.

However - know that some of us - including the veterans - sometimes forget to do this.

A good idea (IMHO) is to add a cargo pod to the Colony Ship especially those headed for breathable worlds. When you click Colonize - SE will load all the pop the ship can handle - gives you a kick start on pop. Remember - the more rabbits you have - the more bunnies you get.

I have 3 colony ship designs/atmosphere:

  1. LR - long range (has a supply pod) to grab those artifact (ruins) planets
  2. SR - short range - with cargo pod for in-range breathables
  3. SR-nbr - no cargo pod for in-range red-plus planets.

Thanks folks.

Is a supply section on the colony ship good enough to grab artifacts or do you have to have something better?

I recently colonized a planet that had ruins on it but I didn't seem to benifet from colonizing the place?

No need to worry about the ruins. Any tech there that you don't have will appear both in the log and the research window. You've done all you need simply by colonizing.

If you already have the tech (happens all the time), then, of course you get nothing.
