A Portfolion Story (SE story)
Somewhere else i mentioned that, now i thought that i might put the story here. It is a lighter, shorter story that is intended for general entertainment. still, its a SE fiction and i thought i'd post it here.

A day from life of a big, green bug
The green sun was only beginning to rise when Ke’raa woke up for yet another day of work. Ke’raa was a rather standard Taeran – big, two meters tall and three meters long, bug with eight legs, two hands and a pair of green-red eyes on a small head. Like all other Taerans Ke’raa was serving his empire, and his particular position was of a meeting chamber guard. Ke’raa took a refreshing radiation shower, quickly ate his jelly-like morning meal and went out his sleeping quarters.
The great underground passages of Taera capitol were buzzing with life. Hundreds of Taerans rushed to their workplaces and other duties, whatever might they be. Ke’raa entered the citizens’ stream and “swam” towards his destination – great Taera Hive Command building. Soon he was there – it always took him about ten minutes to get there, he was living rather close and with those fast air-transport tubes scientists recently invented it was a short way. In the small barracks near the entrance to the building’s inner yard Ke’raa dressed into a standard guard outfit – shining gold colored protective suit, covering his whole body. “I must be an impressive look for them aliens”, ran a thought through his head. Ke’raa finished dressing up and went out of the barracks. Then he returned, as he had forgotten his plasma gun inside. Now, finally equipped though a little late, he took his post near the big gates. Those were gates between the enormous sized star port and the interracial meeting chamber. There was obviously something special going on here as servant workers kept running back and forth through the gate. Ke’raa hadn’t been authorized to access the great mental network connecting the Taeran Queens and the brightest minds of Taera, so he did not know what is going on. He caught one of the runners by his thin, chitin-covered hand and asked what in name of five Queens is going on.
“I hear that our diplomats are meeting with someone special, some new species. This time it’s something interesting, not like those bulky three-horned wannabe aliens we had Last time. All I know though is that they breathe oxygen, and you know how difficult it is to prepare those conditions.” He didn’t know, but he left the runner go. The day was promising to be interesting.
By the local noon even more excitement began – public mental network was reporting that the aliens were a half an hour way from landing.
And then they landed. Ke’raa was disappointed – their ships were of pale grey colors with some shining blue insignia on them… some kind of planet? Yes. Even those three-horned mammals were more interesting – their ships were huge spheres connected together by some kind of tubes, whatever their purpose was. They made a big mess around when it appeared that the space port wasn’t suited to house such a massive ship. “Oh well,” he thought “let’s hope they are more interesting than their ships are”.
A formal delegation left the building to greet the aliens. Ke’raa was envious, he would be one of the Last to see the new aliens and he was curious to see those who made such a noise in usually quiet Meeting chamber. Thirty minutes later he saw them coming and straightened to more appropriate stand. He was expecting much. And he was disappointed. Those aliens were boring – not as high as standard Taeran is, with a straight built body and boring pairs of hands and legs. What can be so special about them? All Ke’raa could think of was that they were funnily similar to those stupid mammals that lived on faraway planet Imoa. One thing was interesting though – unlike most aliens they didn’t seem so much excited by everything surrounding them and also had as much as ten of their kind, guards judging by those huge round-rifles they carried. Probably more advanced than three-horns, he guessed.
They passed through the gate and it closed. And it remained closed until the sunset. The green sun threw one Last lash of green light through the city and hid, allowing the night to finally come. Soon Ke’raa’s replacement, a young Taeran named Ka’r came. He seemed excited. “Did you hear,” – he started right off – “those aliens are fascinating!”
“Are they. Why would you say that? They seem to be quite boring by their appearance.” Ke’raa was skeptical about those aliens.
“You don’t understand, those are the first mammals we encounter that are beyond, you hear, BEYOND us! They had colonized all the left and top parts of this galaxy and their technology is so much different!”
“Oh, really.” Ke’raa didn’t find this so much fascinating at all. He was tired and wanted to go and sleep. “Whatever, it’s now your watch. Have fun tomorrow morning, they’ll probably come out. Then you’ll see how fascinating are they.” With these words Ke’raa turned away and walked towards the barracks. He put his outfit off and went home. “This was a busy day” he thought. He came home, and went to sleep.
