PvK help!! Re: Your Proportions Mod

I have installed the Proportions mod into my SE4 directory.

I can play a game using one of the 8 modified empires that came with it (Abbidon 2k).

But I cannot get it to load the Amonkrie empire from SE 1.84/Proportions/Pictures/Races/Amonkrie.

I can select the Amonkrie empire, but it does not appear in the "Load Empire" Window.

EDIT: Oops...it is Version 2.5.3.1 for NGC Proportions.

PvK changed all the values in the Empire design and traits. You will have to create new empires or reset the values to their original.
I suggest you create only your own Empire and then play against random AI empires.

Yes, do as Aloofi said. Most of Proportions' empire files are screwed because of constant changes and upgrades. Start new game with random AI and then save empire files for all races you want to add later in game setup !

Are you sure, oleg? I don't know of any problematic Proportions EMP files. The empire selection point costs haven't changed for a long time (2.0?), so most old Proportions empire files should work.

Also, I don't think there is any Proportions EMP file for the Amon'krie.

I would suspect you're trying to load a non-Proportions EMP file which somehow got into your Proportions empires directory, which of course won't work because Proportions has always changed the racial traits around.

If you want to create an Amon'krie EMP file, though, it's fairly easy to do so. Just set up a new game with the desires empire point level, and tell it to randomly generate many AI empires (but no neutrals) and chances are good an Amon'krie will be one of them. Then change them to human control from the game menu during play, End Turn until you are in control of the Amon'krie, and save their empire file.

Note that there are three variants of every AI empire, and each one is different at each point level, so there are about 4 x 3 = 12 slightly different Versions of each race.

Example: Soluk empire file uses Piundon race but has no Crystallurgy trait. The result is not pretty.

Thontob... if the picture is not their make sure you have the Amonkrie_Race_Portrait.bmp File in the pictures/races/amonkrie And make sure it is 128x128 picture. If it is not their just copy the stock picture their.

I may have found another way to create an empire for the proportions mod. Either that or I didn't understand someone's instructions.

What I did was:
1) Start a new game.
2) Added Existing ... Abbidon 2K
3) Modified the Abbidon 2k Empire to the Amonkrie Empire.
4) Saved the new Empire as Amonkrie 2k

I think this should work. I'll soon find out if I screwed it up.

That will use the Abbidon AI instead of the Amon'Krie AI, which is not really a good thing to do.

No . It will use Amonkrie AI, but it will still be an Abbidon race setup (gas homeworld, psychic trait, etc.). Which is not good eitgher !! Tbontob, stop fooling around and do as advised Start a new game with random AI players, in game menu select Amonkrie ( if it was not generated randomly, start a new game) and once Amonkrie turn arrives, save the empire.
