Default [OT] More about the new I, robot fillum

Just read Howard Taylor's (of http://www.schlockmercenary.com fame) review of the new I, Robot film.

Aye-Aye-Aye Robot!

I just got back from I, Robot.

For those of you Asimov fans who got all concerned when you saw the trailers with robots CLEARLY hurting people... you folks who KNOW that this was NOT what Asimov and his Robot novels, his Three Laws, and all the rest of it was about, I'll say this: I was concerned too.

But I saw the movie, and it is quite true to Asimov's work. It won't fit in the Robot Novels universe, mind you, but it's true -- EXCEPTIONALLY true -- to the spirit of those novels.

I won't say more, because I don't want to spoil the movie for you. I WILL say that if you love written Sci-Fi, especially the classics by Heinlein, Asimov, Dick, Niven, and all the rest of them, you need to go see this movie. The filmmakers need to be encouraged to continue this approach to big-screen Science Fiction. This was not transliteration-to-the-screen, which approach usually results in a bad movie ruining a great book. No, this was something else...
Maybe I'll go watch it after all.
