Getting off to a slow start with Ctis next to the water where the Ry'leh fortress happens to be. Heh. Well.... My first built fortress gets beseiged by their two headed wyrm. It's hillarious. I send my pretender and prophet and essentially my entire army against them and kill the naga. It was awesome.

I know a lot of you have done all this before. This is the first time I've seen someone seige me with a supercombatant pretender.

I like the cheap archers with orders to "fire archers" against ry'leh mind flayers. I didn't even lose too many of them.

Yeah, that works like a charm! ...at least, when you're fighting them on land...

I still don't have any nice units to go down into the sea and kill them.

My guess is that archery doesn't work underwater. And my Groups will have to be smaller even if I can make that book of water breathing. I am hoping to find a site where I can recruit shamblers, because they are fairly awesome combatants. Haven't found it yet, though.

Undead are usually amphibious. Build an army of those. You only have to take and hold one province then you can build units there.

Anyone with water magic can take 1 unit per magic-lvl into the water (including themselve)

Boost those who will go in with items that can assist you such as the skull talisman

I usually start building up an army for the water and watch for one of those water-mercenary Groups to become available. Getting one of those Groups often signals the beginning of my water invasion
