It was an Indiana Jones moment!
My mercenary buddy Sonnenkinder had finally lost all his troops and was demanding that I pay him a ridiculous amount of money to keep him around. Not being particularly kind I put him in the van of the army with orders to charge the enemy, but asked my other commanders to wait a bit before they advanced.
The battle was joined. Arrows flew as my magic crashed into the enemy and Sonnenkinder swung his sword over his head screaming and running at the poorly armored foe. They advanced cautiously, perhaps wondering why I'd sent only a single soldier to deal with them. Another set of arrows and spells sliced them and their fear of Sonnenkinder grew great. The enemy routed leaving Sonnenkinder the only man standing in the center of the battlefield.
Heh - mebbe I should have paid him to stay...
