Default Who wins alone?

I was just musing about the fact that I've never been in a MP game (other than one-on-one) that has been played to the end with a single nation (not an alliance) emerging as the victor.

In Dom1, the endgame MM made this outcome unattainable (in my games, anyway) but Dom2 has these new victory conditions that make single-nation victory in games with many players (say 10+) at least plausible.

Does anyone have any experience of this? If so, which nation was it that crawled to the top of the heap?

In big MP games with victoryconditions I have seen Man (tuatha), Machaka, R'lyeh win. The first two were rather unexpected. Victory by victory points in both cases. First one turn 18 IIRC, Man (JK) stealthy daoine sidhe, Call of the wild/winds and regular attacks to unexpectedly grab several not too well defended provinces. Second ca 25-30 Machaka (Johan O) same story (bane spiders, call of the wild + attacks).

The Last victory by dominion ca trn 50-60 - R'lyeh (Johan Isaksson) after having defeated several neighbors.

I've seen a Pythium with a 5 player game. I've seen Arco win a 6 player game. And I've seen Man win a 8 Player game.

Each one was with sneak province grabs by either CotW, flying units, CotWild. Though the Arco one was with heavy blood and flying archdevil/ice devils.

I think just about anyone. In a human game things can really swing high/low. I had one as Pangaea where I lost my castle early. I thought I was dead. But I scattered all my sneaking units and started taking provinces, cranking taxes, and sneaking away. Hovering on the edge of other peoples wars worked well since they didnt have time to put up defenses. Eventually I was able to make a comeback and win. Unfortunately the next time I tried it I failed so badly it was embarrasing but thats how it goes.

But if you mean wins on a general basis I think I saw Arcos the most in Dom1. I havent seen enough Dom2 games yet to decide.
