Animals

I was wondering what exactly the animal icon means.

I know for example that my summoned wolf is an animal but that animal icon or tag just says �this unit is an animal�.

Is it any advantages or disadvantages to an animal?

I was thinking of using some summoned wolfs as patrollers attached to a cheap commander.
