Questtions about downloaded races

I have downloaded some race styles/shipsets from various sites. I have noticed that some of these races do not have the same number/type of text files as compared to the races supplied with the game.
I am using a few in my game now and they seem to be working. I have a question for the modders.
Are all the types of text files required for the race to be played by the AI?
