The thing I hope the most to be moddable
... experience effects : being able to make a world in which saving your leaders including non mages really matters, as standard commanders may become really strong if they get enough experience. If dominions is richer in most areas, I feel the lack of a big part of the "old RPG feeling" games like MoM or the heroes and AOW series have succeeded to recreate : as in Dom2 weak mortal characters (even if labelled as "heroes") are condemned to stay weak mortal characters instead of becoming something powerful it's rare to become really attached to them.
I know the hability for mortal characters to become hard to kill super-heroes is a subject of debate as old as RPGs, and the "realism" of a runequest inspired games has as many supporters as the "super-heroism" of D&D inspired ones. It's why I'm not asking for changes in the vanilla dom III experience/heroism system, but I think many players would like the hability to mod a more D&Dian universe, and being able to change the effects of experience stars is the key for that.
Personnally I dream to be able to mod an universe in which a 80 turns old character, winner of 50 battles, become more important and useful than the unit n°567 summoned yesterday ; and this even if this heroe was weak at start.
Of course (with a lot of luck) heroic abilities can already have this effect but, as they actually work, they are mostly a mage/SC thing, and often useless as they are too random. I'd like to see these habilities moddable too, as well as the rules of the hall of fame. Having for example commands to exclude mages/summoned and magical commanders/pretenders from the HoF can change a lot of things. As well I'd like to be able to merge some powers or change the way they progress to make them as useful as the uber heroic quickness.
