Newbie: Which races to start ?

3, probably silly, questions:

1. It's possible during the setting up of the games to have access to the description of the different races or is possible only to see the two pictures (race and ship).

2. It's possible to start with all the settings of a races (just luike loading the emp file) but changing something like the name ?

3. I'm playng a game and I have met races that I'm not able to found in the races directory (there isn't any directory with that race name ... it's possible ?)

Do you mean for you want to use the default description text when setting up your own empire? If so... I don't know. You could always open the text file in the background and use copy/ paste.

This one I do know: You have encountered one of the neutral races. These are just like the other computer controlled empires but they do not expand beyond their home systems. Their race pictures/ descriptions are stored in the races/neutrals directory but they all share the same shipset. There are four default neutral races and four more in the excellent "neutral rebirth" modpack. Anyone have a URL to download this pack?

If you choose "add existing race" to pick different races you and if you choose edit you can see the description and characteristics. You can also change them if you like.
In the game if you click on another races item, ship or planet, and right click,I think, on the race icon you will get the description.

If you do edit an existing race, be careful to change the name when you save it, so you don't accidently overwrite the original file.
