Single Player Game Setup Options
I'm curious to know if the AI players get the "New Player" Technology bonuses if one is to set it at 50,000, 500,000, and so on. If so how does the AI determine which technologies to pick. Is it random? I tried a game with 500,000 new player startup technology and it didn't seem like the AI utilized this when I compared technology.
On this topic of game set up I am also curious to know what some of the other players out there utilize for both fun and maxium AI helping.

Re: Single Player Game Setup Options
I haven't run across the section yet but it should be controlled in the script functions for the AI.

Not sure about the stock scripts, but they do in KwokStock. The tech selection is scriptable.

Re: Single Player Game Setup Options
Essentially the AI's setup script adds from a list of techs until it has no starting tech points left to spend. They also have an advantage in that they can select racial techs in startup while human players cannot.

Re: Single Player Game Setup Options
It would be in Stock if it's in Balance. I don't think Kwok; correct me if I'm wrong, has done changes as large as this one would be.

Re: Single Player Game Setup Options
I have found that setting up the game, a once very enjoyable process in SE IV, has become a frustrating, hair pulling out, beat head against key board, shoot monitor experience with SE V. It really isn't enjoyable, it is however counter intuitive, frustrating, and poorly organized. Sorry Aaron, but I really wish that you would have chosen to go a different route than the one you chose.

Re: Single Player Game Setup Options
You know what I miss most about Empire setup? The ability to designate a tech area as included or not.
