Superman?
After a long break, I'm back to playing SPMBT and having fun. I've been reading the online manual and the posts on this forum to catch up.
I had an interesting event happen in a recent game. After blasting an infantry unit with my APC, the unit was reduced to one man and retreated away. I left my APC where it was about 6 hexes away thinking I'd finish him off next turn. During the AI portion of the turn, the one man unit rallied and fired all four of its weapon types multiple times. Unfortunately one of the shots was with an anti-tank weapon and it brewed up my APC. Such is war.
I am wondering though how a one man unit can carry and fire all four of the full strength units weapons. Is this a bug or considered to be an abstraction?
Also, do ammunition loads decrease as men are lost?
Thanks.

Re: Superman?
abstraction
It's one of the quirks of the game and has always been so and no, ammo loads do not decrease with men lost either
There is no reason to belive that tearing huge chunks of code out and re-writing them couldn't "fix" this( and upsetting the balance of God knows what else in the process ) I supposed this could be set up so as men are lost so are certain weapons but would this added complexity really ( Really ? ) change the overall game in any really significant way ?
It's an SP quirk that is somewhere near beadrock fundamental in it's existance

In SP games, the first shot of the turn will generate a shot opportunity with all 4 weapon slots, no matter the damage to the unit. Any movement will immediately negate these shots, so the damaged unit needs to be stationary to get the benefit.
Casualties are not dead, or wounded necessarily so there may well be enough stunned or demoralised guys hanging about (but not contributing much to the battle) to manage one whole burst with all the weapon slots by aiding the 1 or 2 "Audie Murphy" guys left with fight still in them.
Those with 1/3 of their original men (hit points) left, if forced to retreat can be dispersed. Those with 1/2 of their hit points removed have their heavier than Warhead 1 weapons shots severely reduced too. Those with but 1 HP left are really near to destruction anyway.
It is the usual player thing that thinks its a "1 man section" - it is not. It is one effective man left after casualties. Or "one hit point remaining".
Cheers
Andy

Re: Superman?
Damaged squad has rate of fire and accuracy penelties.
This "Super" shot your APC with his rifle, nothing happened, so he grabbed the 5.56mmLMG and shot, still nothing happened, then the 7.62mmLMG......Finally he found the LAW and shot ^^
Accuracy penelty meant he might shoot fewer bullets from each gun( and hurrying to another ) and wasn`t familiar with the LAW ^^
Rate of fire penelty - it`s really exhausting to jump up and down and shoot with different weapons ^^ one will be exhausted and can`t respose any more to incoming enemy ^^

Re: Superman?
Some units in the game just have that super human ability from time to time. It can be a combination of experience, equipment and luck.
I had a recent battle where one squad advanced into the smoke only to encounter four enemy tanks. They all fired and I had to rally the squad. Then it attacked. When the smoke cleared, three tanks were dead and one immobilized. This was all in one move. It did involve a lot of rallying between assaults.

Re: Superman?
I like these random lucky encounters. It gives the game a bit of a spice.
