				 Surviving Armageddon
High HP and high protection will both help mages survive Armageddon.
But for some reason my hobbit mages are just not dying very often. They've all lived through about 10 Armageddons now.

Does defense help? Does stealth help?

Maybe it's just that cheap leather armor they wear (6 body prot), combined with a little luck (my luck, not hobbit luck) and GoH (~10HP instead of 5).

I'd say stealth, but that is just interpreting stuff from other posts and subjects combined and not based on any testing or real knowledge

It's all the Hobbit Weed. The secret to surviving earthquakes, is being low to the ground.

				 Re: Surviving Armageddon
I spy into my little crystal glass and I see...
Armageddon kills 20% of the population in every province. Afterwards, all units on the map (not in special provinces like the Arena, the Void or the hells) have a 20% chance to fall victim to an attack. The attack is a single body hit, with 15 damage of type earth (which prolly means it's mundane damage). There's some spec value set, I don't know about them enough, but apart from what I already said, it's the same attack like the ballista and crossbow bolts when somebody visits an adventure site.

As far as I can see, there are certainly no special abilities that protect from the attack, nor are there any defense rolls.

 Thanks lch!
I guess it's that little bit of armor cutting the damage down to 9, and then the GoH for a few more HP, that's keeping them alive.

Clever.
Who needs to consult the source code when it is obviously the very high (higher than a kite) THC bless strategy at work? |

vfb, if you turn on debugging while hosting you should see the damage to all the units on the map done by Armageddon, I'd think. |

				 Re: Surviving Armageddon
Thanks, but I'm not hosting at the moment. I'm just yet another llamaserver client.
Besides, I'd have to play too, and then I couldn't look at the server logs! Or do you mean just for testing. Unfortunately I'm in too many games and don't have time for much testing.

				 Re: Surviving Armageddon
As Armageddon was spammed in Kingmaker, I did some tests with it. Average damage is probably around 15, like vfb says, but it can be over 20 too, so there must be some random roll involved [it can be below 10 too]. Protection and Luck help against it. Fire plate makes a huge difference [fire plate on Ktonian Necromancers reduces mortality rate by about 75%]. Defense, stealth, ethereality do not help. And all that killing is very random. You may lose 9/10 guys in 1 province and 0/10 in 2nd. |
