Default Experience and race age

It talks about race experience in the rules and that the more games a race wins the more experience is accumulated and therefore increasing the races age. What does this do for a race. Do they get better, does it add Ratings. In short what is it for and what are the benifits.

hey, remember when this was a once-a-week question, and now its down to once every other month. what ever happened to that FAQ someone was going to write?

thats okay, without frequently repeated questions, how would we ever introduce new community members? shoot, i bet most people would just go away if we had all the easy answers in a FAQ, why would they ever post on the Boards?

to summarize all the comments i remember about this topic: the docs and Messages from the developers suggest that it is supposed to convey some small benefit at very very high experience levels. pracitcal experience from players says it does not do squat at any level. speculation suggests that it will do something in a later Version or in an later patch, but it does not do anything right now. one player THOUGHT that he saw the ministers adapting better to his play style and thus becoming more usefull to him as he gained experince. this is highly unverified, but would be cool if it were true.

all in all, there is a 98% chance that the XP level does not do a darned thing, and never will. 1% chance it will do something later, .05% chance the ministers adapt to your playstyle, and .05% chance that it does something else as otherwise unlisted above.

thanks, and no, most people on this board are very friendly, its just me who is an ***.

edit: dont forget about bragging rights. if you have an ancient race in a multiplayer game, you just look alot cooler than all the newborn loosers. (since i make a new race for almost every game, i dont look all that cool)

Caius,

You should believe everything Puke says, especially about the rest of us being friendly. Also, he is not as bad as he makes himself out to be. Don’t tell him that though, he will get upset if we say something nice about him.

Hmm, this question is in the Malfador FAQ, and the answer placed there to accompany the question is that there are small bonuses given with high experience.

Isn't there a big chance these bonuses are just hidden and obscure?

malfador has also been known to say things like 'theres a scenario editor coming' and then forgetting about it. i think its plauseable that the bonuses they refer to are of the aesthetic or bragging-rights variety. but you could be right. i dont actually have any evedence that an ancient race does NOT convey a 2% happyness bonus or something, and if it did affect a trait like happyness, you would have a really hard time noticing it.

its all possible..

I highly doubt that these bonus' are there. If they were production someone would have found them. Combat is more obscure but PBW people who were up against an ancient would get pissed if he got a to-hit bonus, and in th way of other bonus' the only thing i see would be hte AI's liking you more for someweird reason, so in short its sick to not have your race be newborn.

Why would you say that its sick to have your race anything other than new-born? The race age doesn't do squat. On PBW, I like playing as the Vorlons, and I like RPing. So, I made the age of my Vorlon Empire to be God-Like to round out their description. I haven't witnessed any extra bonuses granted by this, so I don't see any problem in doing it. When and IF (with extra emphasis on the IF) some concrete evidence is provided that racial experience does anything, I'll stop doing it.
