Dark Wing Formations
One of the AI in my current game keeps trying to use a formation called Dark Wing. It causes an error each time that player number comes up, but does not seem to cause any other problems. Is there a way to add a formation to fix this? I dont know what race is trying to do this so I cant add any info there. I was thinking I could even take advantage of this and make the formation so spread out they would make divide and conquer that much easier for me. Any advice that does not require neurosurgery on my files?

Re: Dark Wing Formations
You could remove the formation from the AI.
Go to the specific Race folder you are having trouble with, find the {racename}_AI_Fleet.txt file and look for a line that starts with:
Fleets Default Formation := Dark Wing
And change Dark Wing to something else - like Spider or Wall or Bull
You can also download this formation file and add it to your DATA folder, it has the Dark Wing formation (among others):
formations.txt
Enjoy!

Re: Dark Wing Formations
IF you download my eyecandy mod, there is the formations file in there that includes the darkwing formation.
Sorry did not read Val's post, his file also has the Darkwing formation.

Re: Dark Wing Formations
Since I am the author of the Dark Wing formation for the AI Dra'kol (a/k/a Darlok) and Piundon races, I am curious to know what mod your are using that is asking for the formation, is it the TDM-ModPack? and what Version of SE4 are you using?

Re: Dark Wing Formations
I guess I should start by thanking everyone for their help, and Tampa_gamer for making some challenging opposition. To answer everyone's questions, I am using the TDM mod pack and Version 1.49 on the main program. Since posting the first message I had my first combat with the Darlok and they used the arrowhead formation if that is of interest to anyone.

Thanks from a new member for the help. I, too, was experiencing this same problem, and your new file has done the trick.

Re: Dark Wing Formations
Do admirals commanding fleets using Dark Wing formations have to hail their opponents with:
"I am the terror that flaps in the night... I am the Quantum Torpedo V that vaporizes your Meson BLaster before you can fire... I am using DARK WING FORMATION!!!"

Re: Dark Wing Formations
I can't speak for commanders in Dark Wing formations, but my commanders tend to use the UFO hail on approach. It basically goes like this: You - F.O.!
