Default New Modd Idea: Players Modd!

Just skimming the Honor topic and reading the books when an idea came to me (not very original but an idea none the less ). What if we made a modd that had the racial tech's replaced with different Versions of the human tech?

What I mean is in the Honor books (and alot of other sci-fi series) usually 'group A' is alot better than 'group B' at certain things. 'A's Point defense is alot more accurate, 'B's Wave Motion guns kick out 20% more damage though they are less accurate etc. What if we had 'Generic' Versions of tech (Duc's etc, like they are right now) but use the Racial Tech area to house a 'Player Style' tech where you could modd in better shields (like the federation), more fuel efficient engines, bigger ship sizes etc but all available only to that players race.

Heck, players could submit a 'House Style' of there very own race and tech (within reason, maybe some sort of point/tech buying option like 100 points for +10% to hit APB's or something like it) and a modd could be tailored to a group of players styles. Maybe this could even be developed for 'league' play and be put on PBW (who knows ). Or maybe I am just crazy

Anyone think this is even mildly interesting, or has this been done before and I was just asleep?

I personally don't know if I have the time to do this myself (current addiction: Magic Online, Neverwinter Nights, and coming soon IceWindDale II and MooIII {wich is due in Oct according to Avault.com}).

[Oh, and just a little tidbit of info I don't know where to put and totally off topic. The novels by Orson Scott Card (Enders Game series) are currently in Movie production. Now if they would just make an Honor movie!!! ]

This idea has an affinity to the previous roleplay mod ideas, without the generic weapons that is.

But this does bring up something which I am sure several of us have contemplated, and that is some kind of formula for calculating trade offs. I know for weapons some have done the damage/perturn/perkt, or something to that effect, but such an idea begs to have a method for determining what increases or decreases are actually worth in game across different types of components and even mounts and vehicle sizes.

Interesting idea in general...yet...I must wonder about this "federation" thing. If you speak of the Star Trek "federation" then you are sadly mistaken about the quality of their shields.
