Default Utterdark and Second Sun

How does these spells work toghter?

Second Sun should improve the light of the world, making night disappearing.

Utterdark mantle the world with obscurity.

They contrast?

The spells have nothing to do with each other. Second sun increases the heat scale in all provinces in the world. Utterdark reduces income, causes unrest, causes shade attacks in enemy provinces, and makes every battle fought under the effects of the darkness spell.

Technically, yes.

But fluff-wise, it seems weird. If they for instance were to cancel the effect of each other, then that would certainly be yet another nice small detail.

I agree as well. They shouldn't DISPELL each other, but they could NEGATE the effects of each other. Nice Idea!

they are not neccessarily incompatible. The main effect of second sun is extra heat according to the game, and utterdark causes darkness, but not coldness. Well both together would just make it dark and hot... extra crappy.

That is how the effects stack... The descriptions of the spells would seem to incline some connection between the darkness and the sun. Mainly, something being in the way of the sun most of the time. If there are two suns, the light gets through the cover more often. It still isn't enough to give the world more light than there would normally be.

Some kind of a glasshoubd effect could do, but this is a fantasy game...
