Default APFSDS Range

I have one question. In game all 125mm guns have same Sabot range as 120mm guns. Why? As far as i know early soviet apfsds had problems at longer distances, velocity drop was quite big, so their rounds had biger penetration drop than western ammo. In game this is not modelled. There are some guns with similar values for example West German 120mm L44 WG79 gun has sabot pen 50 and range 120, soviet gun 125mm gun 76 51 and 120 range. With this value will be soviet gun more deadly than more modern WG Apfsds round. All early soviet rounds had 40-35mm diameter with L/D 10:1 - 13:1. their velocity loss was around 150-120m/s/km. Western APFSDS rounds had L/D 10:1 to 30:1 (most modern projectiles has L/D 37:1, modern russian projectiles had 20:1)and speed loss around 75-50m/s/km.Even western 105mm APFSDS had better performace than russian 125mm.Becouse sabot range limits only Sabot penetration it should be nice have those technology diferences implemented.Russian tanks T-64/72/80/90 all have autoloader with limits lenght of projectile, thats mayor cause why they dont have better L/D.Due to this problem Soviet started fielding ATGM fired through main gun, to overcome limited effectivity of their guns at greater ranges.
I reworked in my custom OOB all tank guns, all rounds with L/D 10:1-15:1 had max range 100, L/D 16:1-25:1 range 120, 26:1-35:1 range 130, over 35:1 range 140.
same for all 105,115,120,125 guns.

Hi
There is problem. Example:
soviet 3BM-12 (3VBM-6)
initial speed: 1800 m/s
speed at 2000m: 1527 m/s

penetration at 0m: 413 mm (calculated)
penetration at 2000m: 350 mm

So if you want to set penetration 41 in game than you need range 175.

Yes, you have right, but there are some things in WinSPMBT penetration formula that prevents it. Penetration is not linear. I found that extreme ranges make that you will have 0m penetration same as 500m penetration. Next thing is that game use for AP penetration 100% penetration (weapon with pen 50 will penetrate 50cm armor). All penetration values are 50% average penetration (western rounds criteria) or some of soviet data are in 80% penetration criteria. So you need lower your values up a bit (+- 50mm)

I made som tests with game to make penetration more real, but i found that it is quite problematic, becouse cost calculator adds really big points to all tanks with guns with sabot range over 200.
Next problem is, get some good data about penetration of APFSDS projectiles. (all i have are values at 2000m from Collins page)

Ranges 200+ are for indirect fire artillery where a weapon with 201 range is longer than one with 200 range.

200+ is Not used for on map direct fire weapons.

Cheers
