Default Racial points?

I hear people talking about how they prefter to play with these different racial options etc. How do you choose these settings?

I'm trying to start a new game and I can't find anywhere where I can choose those settings. I only seet where I can decide on low, med, or high racial points. Not how I want to use them....

Where is all this stuff?

Ken

You must set the racial points, and then either edit an existing empire or create one from scratch. Either way will get you into the editing area for the race.

But how do you edit a race or creat one from scratch? Is this something you can do inside the game or do you have to do this outside of the game by like editing text files?

hmmm...I do both...sometimes I have made up a race (have 3 of those now) and then again also simply take the race with best looking ships and make a new one in game....

so as far I know, you can do both ways..out of game and inside...

If you want the computer to play a custom created AI empire, then, yes, you will have to do some editing of text files outside the game.

But if you just want to create a custom race to play yourself, you can do this inside the game. Click on Add New, and the game will let you choose your emperor title and shipset from those for other AI races. Then, you can edit this player to customize stuff like home planet type (rock/ice/gas giant), atmosphere, and you can pick your own culture, racial points and advanced traits. When you have created one you like, you can even save it and use it again later.

the medium and high racial settings have (numbers) behind them,.. this is where the points come from.

to edit a race, go to the players tab, and select either add a new or excisting race, after you add it, select edit

you will come to a new window and have several options on the left to change your race. after you are done.,..

on the same window where you got add and edit there is a save option then save the file with a new name and look in the savedgame folder under seIV, there should be a yourname.EMP file there, this is the file you send to people when you want to play in their PBEM.
