Is there a official history of the world of dom 2 ?

Hi,

is there a official history of the world of dom2 apart form teh one you can reconstruct reading the single description of the nations and of the units ? It will be, at least for me, a really interesting reading ...

There is no official compilation of Dominions history. Most of it is hidden in the darker corners of my mind.

While not impossible to do it would be a rather lengthy manuscript i suspect. It would present some problems with alternate Versions of history (themes such as broken/ashen ermor).

I'm personally fond of hints and allusions. It leaves more to the imagination of individual players.

If there ever was to be a new manual, would you like to have a compilation of dominions history in it?

Yes, I like hints and allusion too ... but it would be great a sort of background in a new manual ... not really too much but something about the nations and themes and how we reach the actual situation, a big more deep than the description in the games could really help to get the feeling of the game ...

Not I. I'd much rather the time be spent on creating yet more lists, e.g. recuitable units by nation/theme, special & at-start spells for each nation/theme (people who read these Boards know about the tien chi units, but I had no clue when I opened the manual).

One other item; a brief strat guide for each of the nations themes. Picture 3 paragraphs: strengths, weaknesses, and general play advice. Again, this is targetted at someone who opens up the manual and is pretty lost.

Interesting point, always nice reading tid bits about the background to the worlds and maybe a bit more background into the scenarios woul dbe nice.

I'm not sure if the popularity of Dom 2 is such, but I for one would love to see a Strategy guide for Dom 2 which builds on what I believe is a very capable manual.

In that case someone else will need to write it. Im not knocking the abilities of the devs, what they do I think they do great. But I dont think any of them can write something from the view of someone who knows nothing of the game.

What I would like to see is a Version of what we had with Dom1. A newbie starter page for each nation which set god, scales, castle, and gave some hints on why. You can see them HERE near the bottom of the page.

I think there should also be each of those gods already made with the game and the demo, and a game already started with player being.. probably Ulm.
