Image Mod Wrecked My SEIV Folder
So I just downloaded an installed the Image Mod for SEIV an low an behold..... my game no longer works. Tried to uninstall an reinstall, except now i can't get rid of the Pictures folder. Apparently it is now Read-Only. An when I deselect the box it says there is an error in the Planets subfolder. From image 0320 on..... none of the images exist as images(they are blank unopenable files that take up harddrive space).
How the heck did this happen and is there a solution that i can use to get rid of these images. Tried to use the Delete on Reboot program an Windows Safe mode to no avail. This is annoying me an I want to play SEIV again, but can not reinstall the game to the same folder due to this massive error.

Are you an administrator on your system? Right now I'm suspecting it has something to do with altering the program files directory - but I'm not sure if any of that security functionality (which is in Vista) was added in XP SP3.

Re: Image Mod Wrecked My SEIV Folder
Ok, so I finally managed to get the folder deleted (had to delete the image files 10 or so at a time). Now however after redownloading the Image Mod (specifically the planets part), it now states that Planets.bmp is an unreadable file, an the game crashes. This was the same problem I had before. Is the Planets.bmp image corrupt or is the full .rar corrupt an i should look for another source to get the files from?
Edit: Also does the Image ModPack work with the latest version 1.95?

Re: Image Mod Wrecked My SEIV Folder
The last time I ran into an undeletable file, the problem turned out to be that the .rar file had "Set File Security" turned on under Advanced Options, Miscellaneous. I've gotten into the habit of checking every time I unpack a .rar , to make sure that box is unchecked.

Re: Image Mod Wrecked My SEIV Folder
I downloaded a few SE5 ship sets from Spaceempires.net in .rar format. When I went to extract some of them, I got error messages saying that 'such and such permissions could not be set due to security settings'. I have Vista, so it might block that, but perhaps XP doesn't - I'll let Fyron know and maybe he can figure it out.

Right-click the .rar and select "Extract Files...". Set the folder you want to unpack the .rar to on the General tab, then click the Advanced tab.
Or you can Open the file in WinRAR and click "Extract To".
I think I remember being able to overwrite the undeleteable files by unpacking the .rar again with that option turned off and "Overwrite without prompt" set, but I was using XP from an administrator account.

Re: Image Mod Wrecked My SEIV Folder
It sounds like a permissions issue. You'll need to log in as administrator in windows XP (unless you are using Pro or Media Center) and change the permissions by taking ownership of the files.
