Thematic problem
I don't like my pretender suffering from R'yleh's insanity dominion. Pretenders should be immune.

Agreed, he's divine and not really open to others as the Supreme God

Re: Thematic problem
But the R'lyeh insanity is nothing to do with their nation, or their faith itself. It is an instability in reality, causing the Void to begin leaking into this realm.
The Void can make even your pathetic little pretender insane, he is but a pawn to the greatest powers there.

Re: Thematic problem
Good point. Just one problem. Why is the insanity tied to Ry'leh's dominion then?

Because it was the only simple game mechanic that could be used as a vehicle to not only cause the effect, but to make it something visible and alterable as an outside force?
Too many questions for a mortal. Why don't you just gaze in the portal and tell me if you find the answers you seek. :P
And I wholeheartedly agree that Void beings should be able to safely use the Void Gate. It would mean more for MA probably, but in either case it just makes sense. If it's tied to the Summoning skill, could just give them a (1) if they're not meant to be used that way - I'm sure they could still get lost, and that's a bummer!

Re: Thematic problem
I think the Void Lord and Void Creeper (or whatever the psychic penis-mushroom is called) ought to be immune to insanity. Probably, Pretenders ought to be immune to insanity, period-since they're the source for your Nation's reality, and insanity is another term for not believing in the agreed-upon reality. Not that they can't act "in mysterious ways", but they're above questions of sanity/insanity.

Re: Thematic problem
Indeed, it´s funny that the void lord cannot use the void gate without going insane. I mean, contact with the void shouldn´t drive someone who has been living in the void until last month

Re: Thematic problem
I've wondered about that one too. I mean, it's not too much of an advantage to be able to devote your Pretender to the Void, as a Void summoner, is it? Considering it won't be able to cast spells, research, etc. while summoning. Ofcourse, R'lyeh LA is already far too powerful, but it seems a small benefit.
Personally, if it were up to me, I'd tie the Void to the life of the Pretender, and the Pretender to the life of the Void-as in, the Void doesn't function unless your Pretender is alive, and if your Pretender dies, you can't revive your Pretender-priests can't pray for Pretender resurrection-without holding on to the Void-lose your Capital, and you'd better get it back, in other words. Would make R'Lyeh that much more unique, and balanced.

Re: Thematic problem
Indeed. For some reason summoner star-spawns have a tendence to come back in the middle of a barbarian horde. I only know that they come back less sane and with more magic because I read it was so here, not because of any of them surviving...
