Default R\'lyeh Assassins

The Starspawn assassins aren't nearly as good since the patch. Has anyone had success with them? MindbLast says it does 10 damage but I saw it only Last for 3 rounds. Is this how it's supposed to work? I thought 10 damage meant 10 rounds. What happens if you mind bLast someone who is paralyzed? It seems like it either does nothing (with the possibility of some minor damage?) Is that right?

I'm not sure what to do with the Starspawn assassin anymore. But just telling him to fire definitely doesn't seem to work anymore.

I'm not sure what to do with Illithid's period any more, since a single illithid can now expect to only take 5 normal MR opponents out of the fight for a maximum of 6 turns, and an average of 4 turns. I'd much prefer it if the mindbLast did something like 100 armor negating fatigue damage, so that the effect was Lasting over the course of the battle.

From the sound of it, R'yleh has been nerfed pretty heavily. Has anyone come up with effective tactics for them now? My plans in multiplayer are now looking a bit sketchy and I would love some hints.

I think the assasins may have been a little too powerful before the patch... at least for me, they had like a 98% sucess rate against indie commanders... mounted guys or wizards with a lot of bodyguards were problematic... but regular guys would only get lucky and not have a mind bLast stick before they got into melee range a small fraction of the time.

But I think with paralyze fixed, they do need to consider upping the damage or something...

Though I haven't noticed much effect on battles... I don't think it's really lowered their effectiveness there too much, but then I haven't been in any gigantic battles that take dozens of turns to resolve.... but I tend to have my Illithids on "Fire Closest", so the arrow catchers tend to kill them before they have a chance to wake up.
