Default Okay, this bites

I'm on my second run of Starfury, and the Terrans are driving me up the wall.

Why are they so damned touchy? They go hostile if I breath on them, it seems. For a large chunk of the first game I played, they were hostile - I had assumed I'd killed one of their freighters by accident or something.

Last night, I experimented. I'm on the mission where you have to kill the Eukrates starbase. I'm using a custom 'Miranda Class' trek ship (everyone else has them, including pirates(1). Different subclasses too, so it doesn't get boring). I haven't managed to connect - ever - to ekcory.net so I made my own configs and portraits.

Anyway. In Pleides, everyone's got the blues. Neuts, Terrans and Abbidonians. Got to the next system, they're blue... but moments later, the Terrans are affronted by what seems to be the color of my ship and go all red on me. Reloaded the autosave, tried to bolt to the warp gate, got intercepted by a bunch of pirates. So I took them out... pissed off the Terrans though. Repeated, this time got attacked by Amonkrie - Terran freighter rumbles past, gets accidentally hit by my damned PD cannon and pisses off the entire Terran species.

Tried one Last time, managed to get to the next system but, after a minute or so, the Terrans noticed me again and went mental again.

Alt-F4.

It's been fun, but X2: The Threat should be arriving in the mail soon.

(1) Now its actually quite challenging(2).
(2) Especially the 'Save the Dagger' mission, if you change the dagger to a Terran Miranda Class with 800 hull and 1000 max speed. Major space battle - they can't zip away because of all the asteroids, so it's a mass gang war.

Weird. Ussually they do go hostile if you hit one of them, but calm down after a while with no combat.

Perhaps you picked up illegal cargo?

What exactly are the parameters for hostility? I've known about the mine problem for ages - this is no longer an issue for me though with my current game as I've Banned the use of mines throughout known space. Besides, it makes battles more interesting as those ships that were kitted with minelayers don't just drift along presenting their rear ends to your entire weapons array. And it doesn't clog up your cargo hold with crud.

Hostility as of 1.08:

Hitting any ship/base/fighter/mine/etc of that race with any weapon or your ship. (the mine problem is that you are a Terran ship- so anything you do to hurt yourself is seen as hurting a terran ship..so they shoot you. heh)

Carrying illegal cargo.

As far as I know, that's it. Normally, after a while with none of these a race will go non-hostile.

No illegals. I've reduced the likelihood of their appearing to 1 percent and I dump them when I find them. The red text is annoying.
