Default Building ship sets

I'm not sure I'm doing this right....I D/L the 2 prog to build ship sets (still working on learning it)and just for S and G (sh*ts and Grins) I tried to look at the existing sets.....there are bit maps and the prog. will not open them and will not save as bit maps.
Now I'm no Compuiter tech and if some things are not laied out I mess em up. Idid D/L some other ship sets for added change to my choises. If any one has an idea what I'm doing wrong (if any thing) please let me know

Mott

moray can't read .bmp files.

POVray can but I don't how to script changes (like change a texture) there...

haven't really learned Moray either, yet.

Sorry, I couldn't be of more help.

Default Re: Building ship sets

Ships used in shipsets are generally created in 3d programs such as POVray, 3d Studio Max, Lightwave, etc. The files that they create contain information on 3-dimensional shapes and whatnot.

The images actually used as shipsets in the game aren't 3d files, but 2-dimensional renderings of them.

What you're trying to do is give the program a photo of an object have it re-interpret the objects in 3 dimensions, and it can't. If you want to make additions or changes to existing shipsets you will have to create new ships entirely from scratch.
