New (old) buildings
I have recently acquired copy of old Steel Panthers 2, and i noticed that there are lot of interesting building icons, like control towers, radar buildings, rafineries, and so on. Is there any chance of reinstating them into WinSPMBT? (At least the airport control tower, please...)

Re: New (old) buildings
Let's put it this way...... adding new buildings, especially multi hex buildings, requires precise code changes to tell the game what hexes the buildings are in and testing to ensure they actually fit in those hexes. So it's not just a case of adding building to the end of the file...the game needs to know they are there through the code and what size they are. Some of the old SP2 multi hex buildings didn't always fit the hex structure of the game. Also, the old ones for SP2 don't fit the style of the new ones used in MBT so the short answer is I have no plans to do this or to add new versions of these to the game because we decided right from the start that the buildings in WinSPMBT and WinSPWW2 would be the same so that maps can be transferred from one game to the other and we cannot do that with modern radar buildings and control towers.

Re: New (old) buildings
Thats too bad... Ah, well. I understand.
But what about that idea : do two copies of the same building - one control tower, second some random big building. Both would had exactly the same hex layout, just swaptheir graphic file in WinSPMBT and WinSPWW2. This way maps still woud be interchangeable, youd have tower in mbt, and lets say warehouse in ww2...

Re: New (old) buildings
That would mean twice the work. I am pretty sure you know what the desgn teams' answer to that would be! A mod with new single-hex buildings would be good though. SPWAW did some lovely extra buildings. Could they be transfered to WINSPMBT. If they could I would love to give it a shot.

Re: New (old) buildings
Im not suggesting remaking ALL buildings. Just one or two...

Re: New (old) buildings
The moment you mentioned copies and two in the same sentence was probably the moment that the dev-team switched off. Single builds are the way to go, especially because if they are big enough you can stick them together (place them next to each other) and then a nice bigger more varied building is created. If you worked , or if someone else worked, on a few "lego-brick" houses (I don't mean made of lego bricks for anyone reading this btw) then not only would it be easier to implement but it would also mean that the game would be more adaptable.
