Default What culture inspired Abysia ?

I cannot see any references to some kind of existing mythologies concerning Abysia. So was the nation totally created by Kristoffer O for the game ?

Also I would like to know how to modify/add descriptions to units since I have a little mod project.

Thanks

As far as modding goes:

You generate a mod file: a text file saved with the filetype .dm that starts with #modname "name of your mod".

Then you just select units, write their descriptions and end the selection, like this:
#selectmonster "Devourer of Souls"
#descr "This is a description."
#end

You can also use unit IDs to select the units; to know the IDs, consult Edi's dom3database (see link from his sig) or press shift+i when viewing the unit's description in Dom3.

For Abysia, read pg 97 of your manual. "Abysia does not have any clear inspirational sources" etc.

i always saw abysia as warcraft's blood elves: user of blood and fire magic, proud race disappearing in favor of humans, evil against the enemies.
but maybe abysia is older than blood elves....

This topic is silly. Abysia is just a ripoff of the demon splicing fire-people of Belarus.

So the developers just made up Abysia at the top of their head? No inspiration even from other games or books? Not a shred of reference?

What does it matter? So they came up with a race purely on their own instead of basing something on existing history or mythology.

Of course, Abysia does follow the usual theme of decline due to the corruption of humans.

You know, you COULD have read the rest of the Abysian description on page 97 of the manual. The quote I mentioned earlier continues "Malign devil-worshipping empires of the fantasy genre combined with some ancient Middle Eastern concepts, perhaps."

Really, it isn't that hard to look things up from the manual!
