A global newspaper - the "Hiperia Gazette" or "Urgaia Times" or whatever. If there's a war in a remote place I have no intel on, or a plague or another such widescale event, I should get at least a bit of knowledge about it.

I voted other, though I have no idea what that other should be. Probably go with the stock answer of better AI (though better scripting would satisf too).

I really could care less about either of the other two mentioned items, though if you stuck a gun to my head I'd pick diplo, then grab the gun and shoot you
