Re: Poll: Are you still playing with music on?
while i love the lilting tunes of Dram, I typically listen to my own soundtracks. Portishead is top-o-the-list right now; i love that stuff. it is very chill, but still has this nice edge so it isn't boring.

The desktop link to the game has had the switches added that stuff turned off for a long time. Music, fades, animated backgrounds, the click sound is turned way down, etc etc. Its all automatically off when I go in.

God no.
No offense to Dram but if I had to hear that music again I think I'd kill someone.

I haven't heard the sound effects even, in a year or so. My imagination does fine. I do like the music and don't mind the sound effects - I just don't use them. I've been considering turning them on though for a change.

Re: Poll: Are you still playing with music on?
I really love the music, but without a volume slider ingame, the whole sound aspect becomes a bit cumbersome if I am not the only one home.
My current sound setup is a 200w tuner with a couple 12" home towers, for movies and music - is there any way I can deal with the horrific sounds of 100 archers, or 30 Illithids? Even worse than elephants, though those suck on my system too, even at a sedate volume level.
Now that you mention it, I might start running it with music enabled, but other sounds off. That might be pleasant.

Re: Poll: Are you still playing with music on?
The music was really fine and enjoyable the first times. But for a game like this which you possibly play for years, I found just impossible to listen it over and over and over again forever.
So I use other music CDs, mainly soundtracks of movies which can be thematic. I.e. Apocalypto's soundtrack for Mictlan, Conan the Barbarian for Ulm, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon for eastern nations, and many others "neutral", Ben Hur, the trilogy of the Lord of the Rings, Pirates of the Caribbean, Beowulf... and many other movies even from decades ago which had an epic soundtrack to accompany my heroic deeds

Yeah, the music is good and all, but after a while it starts to really grate how there's little variety. So I listen to my own music, especially battle metal, to add that little epic touch.

Re: Poll: Are you still playing with music on?
I love the music, and I still listen to it, when I don't have anything else to listen to (although I admit, it annoys everyone around me).

Yeah, but there are some really fascinating sound effects. For example, killing amazons is very exciting. If you play it loud and kill a lot of amazons, you neighbours are just going to think you're repetitively looking at some porn/gang bang movies each evening. Don't be surprised then if they hide their children when they ear you climbing the stairs
